Fund II Announcement
The Defiant and others.
Fund I Journey
The journey of our fund I has been at times thrilling and at times challenging. We raised our fund I near the previous Bitcoin all time price high of 17k USD and then promptly fell into a 3 year bear market. This turned out to have been fortuitous for long time preference, high conviction, builder aligned capital. So we had occasion to work with many amazing entrepreneurs who have built unicorns and dodecacorns including OpenSea, Yield Guild Games, Qredo, 1Inch, Astar, Agoric and many more. We are proud of our portfolio entrepreneurs and have been fortunate to work with all of them.
Becoming one of the top Blockchain VCs
What does it take to be one of the top blockchain VCs?
Obviously fund performance is a metric. But we care about much more than that. We want to be consistently helpful, we want to provide thought leadership and people leadership, we want to exhibit a hands-on, long time preference, all-in, high conviction and strong ethical culture that entrepreneurs can rely on. All three of the partners have founded, built and exited companies on behalf of their investors and we feel this operational experience can be helpful in providing guidance and being a value-add VC.
Where are we in crypto & blockchain?
A word about where we are in crypto and blockchain. Obviously we have started to form many subsectors like infrastructure, developer tooling, middleware, play-to-earn (p2e) gaming, DAOs and guilds, DeFi, CeFi, NFTs, Metaverse and Web3. While a lot of those are buzwords, the emergence of these subsegments indicates a degree of market maturation.
Onward and Upward
Our Fund II is more than 5x larger than our Fund I. With this larger fund come more responsibilities and new challenges. We also have the track record of our Fund I which officially makes us emerging fund managers.
Thanks so much for all of your trust and support.
